Thank you for your comments!
Actually, I should have put the other face....it's not a 10 ore but a 25 ore! However, this detail doesn't change anything, I think :)
Your explanation is more than credible Denarius, it must be right!
Chris, I take an active interest in your proposal! I will contact fastly the museum of Brande. I think that the better is to go during the open hours (14h30-16h30 thursday and tuesday, lol....i'm not just used to this kind of schedule in France). I hope to be understandable because I can't speak Danish...
If they don't agree, I will contact directly the "Stadsgartner"!
Actually, I read on an English website that some danish cities allow the metal detection on its own areas. Is it right?
Benji
[quote1235398223=Heelgrasper]
Well, yes and no. I think it would be rare to find anything from the Medieval period up until the late 19th century but as the heathland became heathland because of human agriculture the should be a decent chance of finding something really old.

Normally I would suggest using the webpage http://www.dkconline.dk where you find archeological finds plotted on maps but it's all in Danish. You might get some idea that it's not hopeless around Brande by loking here: link

Each red mark represents some sort of archeological find or historic momunent (thomb, ruin etc).

If you want to try other places with higher chances of finds from the (early) moderne period you could try looking towards the east coast of Jutland.
[/quote123

Hello!

I finally managed to understand how work the map on this website :DÂ It's amazing such a database of historical facts. Actually I don't manage to distinguish the different kinds of historical points: there are crosses, circles.....somebody can set me straight about that?
last question:is there a mean to show only the points before a certain period?

Thank you

ben

Hi Captainben - basically about the markings such as a cross which means a singular found artifact, and a circle means an earth burial mount from bronze age and upwards and a square is a reference to a defined site such as a village enclosure or a market place, the same goes for a triangle I think.

And of course when you click them - you come to a reference paper which explains in more specific terms what it is that have been found and the person who have investigated the site and when and so on.

The hard part for you I could imagine would be that it is all written in Danish. :) Cheers Peter

[quote1236872385=darkkony]
hi again,

I come from Poland, came here to Denmark in '06.

No problems, lets keep in touch, then we can perhaps find a place somewhere around here or Brande, doesn't matter for me, I have a car too, so I can come to Brande or anywhere else. As for the timing, this and next weekend I ll be busy actually looking for a new car, so perhaps in 3 - 4 weeks time from now on we can find something out. We can use the time to find an interesting spot here on Jutland (same time it s still pretty cold outside most of the time now, so I am not sure if any attempts to excavate still icy cold ground makes sense).
I didn t have much time recently to look around for a place here, as I have just moved here few months ago from Copenhagen. Yet, I did find a website on Danish military history describing briefly some wars and battles (moslty 17-19 centuries), which could maybe give some indications for further research, it s in English you can check it out yourself here http://www.milhist.dk/index_uk.php. Perhaps finding a spot of an old military camp site or something similar might give some interesting results.

have a good weekend
Pawel
[/quote123

Hi pawel!

What do you think about a soon plan? I am OK for the 2 last week-ends of March. We have to find a place after discussions! The area around Brande is not very good for metal detection so it would be in an other place :D

See you

Benji
